International relationships of Pakistan

1. Pakistan maintains a complex web of international relationships with various countries. Pakistan has a tense relationship with India due to the Kashmir conflict and it maintains close ties with the People's Republic of China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Gulf Arab states.
2. Additionally, Pakistan has a fluctuating relationship with the United States of America due to overlapping interests during the Cold War and War on Terror.
3. Pakistan and China have forged close ties over the years, especially after the 1962 Sino-Indian clash.
4. According to Human Rights Watch, Pakistan's relationship with the United States, its largest development and military donor, showed signs of improvement in 2020 with the US acknowledging Pakistan's significant role.
5. Furthermore, Pakistan shares cultural, ethnic and religious ties with Afghanistan and their relationship has always been close but it has been affected by conflicts over the Durand line, the Soviet Afghan war, Pakistan's support to the Taliban regime and role of Pakistan in Afghanistan.
