Construction of First bird tower for birds in Punjab

For the breeding and protection of wild pigeons and other birds, unique bird towers are being built in different cities, while Yar Madad Gar, an organization working for the protection of wild birds, has established around 6 thousand in different areas of the city so far. Nests are also planted. The charity has started a series of bird towers of unique design. The first bird tower in Punjab has been built at Gulshan Iqbal Park in Gujranwala. These bird towers are made of solid bricks and coated with mud, inside the bird tower is a wild bird. Built in, bird towers resemble old-style kos minar with a height of 20 to 25 feet. The cost of constructing a bird tower is more than five lakh rupees. Rizwan khawaja, the head of Yar Madad Gar, who has done this unique work, told The Express Tribune that he has adopted this design of the bird tower after a lot of research. Initially, messenger pigeons will be kept in these bird tower, which are similar to wild pigeons, after seeing them, wild pigeons will settle there. This is just the first bird tower, only 7 bird towers will be built at different places in Gujranwala and after that such towers will be built in other cities including Lahore. Rizwan Khawaja said that he has so far installed around 6000 mid nests for sparrows and parrots and the birds have also built their nests inside them. This is because the breeding season is going on, so the birds inside hundreds of nests Eggs are laid. He said that the work of keeping nests for birds was started in 2018. Earlier, the sale of birds in the name of charity was stopped in the city. The poachers who caught the birds were given alternative employment while some were prosecuted, due to which the business of trapping the birds was stopped. Focal person of National Alliance of Animal Rights Activists and advocates(NARA)Aniza Khan Umarzai says that such steps need to be taken in every city for the protection and breeding of wild birds. More and more trees should also be planted to increase the breeding of birds.
